Asparagus Pesto

I waited too long to cook a bunch of crisp green asparagus, but it wasn't past consumption. On the fly, I decided to make a pesto out of it for some angel hair pasta. It's gooooooood. We wondered if I had invented the stuff, but I found an article by one of my favorite chefs, Mark Bittman. The recipes are very similar. This is at the top of my "Try It!" list.

Sports Photography

I was thrilled to take Penn's soccer team photos! I was going for a bust shot, full length shot and an action shot. The sunshine, wind and seven year old mentality were my obstacles, but overall I'm happy with the photos. Since Penn was my light test and tired of me even before I got the lights where I wanted them, I didn't really get the photo I wanted of my own kid. C'est la vie. And I only broke two umbrellas.

Nickell Family Portrait

It's been decided. I want a redhead. Susan assured me that, considering my Korean heritage, my chances were pretty low. My best friend growing up was a redhead. (Hi, Amanda!) And my college roommate was a redhead. (Hi, Scarlet!) And the only doll I ever played with was Rainbow Bright. She was some kind of awesome. Just like little Emily. She's pretty much the sweetest, brightest little ball of giggles evers in the whole wide world.

Georgia, 5 months

Meet 5 month old Georgia. She's about as cute, picture perfect, smiley, blue eyed and pink-cheeked as they come! I literally squeal uncontrollably when she smiles at me. I can't get enough of her. She has a beautiful room that I could photograph in all day long. Georgia is following in her parents and sisters sweet footsteps and turning out pretty amazing. There was never any doubt.

Baby Norah

Remember when Norah was on the inside? Well here she is on the outside, safe and healthy and gorgeous! She didn't sleep during our session, which surprised me because every newborn I've ever known has had the cuddy sleepies for a month. I expect big, surprising and wonderful things from sweet Norah who is the cutest little Mexican girl baby in the whole world.

2011 Lakewood Elementary Spring Carnival

Last Saturday was Lakewood Elementary's Spring Carnival. As far as I could tell, it was a roaring success. I put my volunteer hour in at the Silly String booth and it didn't feel like work in the least. Penn went to the hair painting booth and came out with green and orange hair. We ate our way through sticky, sweet and salty. Burger Street, Brian Street Tavern and a pizza place served food so it was much better fare than your typical carnie blahs. Pavlov probably got to sample a good deal from the ground.
Resident celebrity Tim Delaughter was there (pictured in red pants below) because my kid goes to the same school his kids go to and back when I was jamming out to Tripping Daisy it did not cross my mind that this would ever be a possibility.
A round of applause to all the fine folks who worked so hard to put this together!
