This is our first Halloween in our new neighborhood. I asked our neighbors if we could trick or treat with them and they kindly agreed. Who knew our neighborhood was such a trick or treating hot spot? There was a haunted house (which I wouldn't allow Penn to go in), a movie projected outside, decor out the wazoo and droves and droves of kids.
Last week we went to Penn's Halloween Carnival and joined the Boy Scouts for a group pumpkin carving. Pictured below is my goofy bat pumpkin.
Honestly, I truly hate Halloween. Always have. I don't like giving children buckets of candy and I don't think there's anything "fun" about anything scary. Or gory. Or injured. Or dead. Or skeletons. Or spiderwebs. And etc. And I think children should dress up as Charlie Brown sheet ghosts and princesses and tigers and cowboys and Indians and ballerinas. And not zombies. And not...etc.
But Halloween is probably not a battle I'm going to win, so it's my responsibility to give Penn safe, happy and age appropriate holiday experiences. Here was our evening in photos. Click here to see the full set.

Oh, boo humbug! Halloween is great! Especially in your neighborhood. That's where we spent it. ;-)
What's the great part about Halloween? I had more thoughts in the comments here: http://www.facebook.com/notes/carissa-byers/halloween-2010/455408359639
Also, I wish I had known you were over here!
