i'm baaackkkk

i'm typing this from my little office. my office. in my new house.

yup. we've moved. we've left the hip uptown neighborhood of dallas and have entered the urban residential area surrounding dallas' white rock lake.

gone are the 7a.m. wake-up calls delivered promptly and loudly by construction workers. gone are the random hours without air conditioning and without water and without security gates and without a pool and without a mail box. gone are the two gates and three flights of stairs lugging heavy groceries and a baby. gone are walking the two blocks with heavy groceries and baby when i couldn't park in the parking lot due to construction workers. gone is our apartment in the collonade on cole, future site of condos owned by the worthless, inhumane and inconsiderate company that is worth ross and associates. this company is a whole other post and will soon have a letter of complaint to the better business bureau as soon as we get our deposit back.

but welcome, oh welcome, waking up with the baby, making oatmeal and coffee, sitting in our quiet and large dining room and eating breakfast while we watch the fattest squirrils i've ever seen scurry through our yard. welcome walking out into the yard for an hour while i drink coffee in my pajamas and penn and i lay in the three inch thick grass and stare at the sky. welcome the garage which safely houses our cars and art supplies. welcome the humongus new washer and dryer that has turned five loads of laundry into two. welcome the big clean stainless steel double door refirgerator. welcome the baby's room which does not yet house a sleeping baby, but does house all of his toys. welcome plantation shutters and awesome nautral light and the amazing coolness that is miraculously cool set even at 85 degrees.

welcome the most amazing kitchen sink faucet i've ever seen. welcome hardwood floors that allow me to just wipe up large glasses of spilled orange juice. welcome the office and built in shelves! welcome the yard that we've spent hours and hours in. welcome the jungle gym and swing and slide that show off penn's coordination. welcome the private fence that allow the cats to go outside for the first time.

it's not a mansion. it's not perfect. but is it ever home. wonderful wonderful home. feels like home. smells like home. and feels good to drive up to.

i'm so grateful to be here and to have this house. and to have the internet again.

pictures and posting will hopefully resume their regular times again.
